The NEET cut-off score is the minimum mark a candidate needs to qualify for the medical entrance exam. There are two types of cut-offs in medical entrance exams - the qualifying cut-off and the admission cut-off. The qualifying score is the minimum mark needed to pass the exam, while the admission cut-off is the final rank at which a candidate will be granted admission.
The NEET 2023 cut-off has not been lowered. All medical colleges that accept NEET scores admit students based on the NEET 2023 admission cut-off. Which state has the lowest NEET cut-off?
The NEET UG exam cut-off fluctuates annually due to a variety of factors, so the state with the lowest cut-off can change from year to year. It’s crucial to remember that NEET medical college admissions are based on the All India Rank (AIR) achieved by candidates, either through AIQ or state-wise counselling.
According to the NEET cut off 2023 analysis for MBBS government colleges, the Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Rohtak had the lowest cut-off. The NEET closing rank for this college in 2022 was 7932.
What is the required NEET score for MBBS?
NEET aspirants often wonder about the score needed to pass the NEET 2023 exam for MBBS. This varies annually as the NEET cut-off marks depend on factors like the exam’s difficulty level, the number of exam participants, and the seat availability in different medical colleges.
The NEET exam includes 200 multiple-choice questions, totalling 720 marks. The scoring system awards four marks for each correct answer and deducts one mark for each incorrect answer. Therefore, a candidate’s NEET 2023 score is calculated by multiplying the number of correct answers by four and subtracting the number of incorrect answers.
To pass the NEET exam, candidates must achieve a minimum NEET 2023 qualifying score. Last year, the qualifying score was 117 out of 720 for unreserved category candidates and 116 for reserved category candidates. This means unreserved category candidates need at least 117 marks for medical college eligibility, while reserved category candidates need at least 116 marks.
However, achieving the minimum NEET qualifying score doesn’t guarantee medical college admission. The NEET medical admission process depends on the candidate’s NEET score, NEET exam rank, and eligibility based on various criteria set by admission authorities.
What is the purpose of the NEET Cutoff 2023?
Eligibility for the following undergraduate medical seats will be based on the NEET 2023 cut-off:
- 15% of seats are reserved for the All India Quota (AIQ)
- 85% of seats are allocated to the State Quota
- Seats in Deemed and Central universities
- Seats in ESIC and AFMS
- Seats in Private institutions
- Seats in AIIMS colleges
- Seats in JIPMER colleges
The NEET 2023 cut-off marks will be influenced by several factors for MBBS/BDS admissions:
- The number of candidates who took the NEET exam
- The difficulty level of the NEET exam
- The total number of NEET seats available in the respective states
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has explained that a percentile rank is the percentage of scores that are lower than a particular score in a group. The NTA will use a specific formula to calculate the NEET cut-off percentile scores.
